Robert B. Bevan - May 01, 2024

Plains Twp.

Robert B. Bevan, 84 of Plains, passed away Wednesday night, May 1 at Riverstreet Manor.

Bob was born in Wilkes-Barre to the late Thomas A and Emma J Dane Bevan. After graduating from GAR High School in 1957, he proudly served in the US Marine Corp. In 2010, Bob retired from Bridon American.

Bob always loved music and singing. When he was 16 years old, he sang with his sister Esma at the local radio station in Wilkes-Barre. He was a member of the Plains American Legion Post 558, where he began singing karaoke with DJ Bernie. He was a regular participant in “Sunday Funday” at Bistro on Hudson with DJ Escape Plan, and Frankie and Toby at the Woodlands always gave him a microphone to join them in singing “A White Sport Coat.” He was known as “Baritone Bob” that somehow turned into “Bouncing Bob.”

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his son Richard Bevan, brothers Thomas Jr. and William Bevan, sisters Margaret Sebastian, Dolores Wills, Esma Kurtz, and Elizabeth Bevan.

Surviving are his wife Margaret (Midge) Bevan, son Robert and wife Janice, daughter Christine (Tina), daughter-in-law Regina Bevan, grandchildren Ashley Bevan, Anthony, Michael, and Lauren Gryskevicz, and great-grandchildren Elise and Damien Iacobelli.

The family would like to thank the amazing staff at Riverstreet Manor for making Bob so comfortable during the past 1 ½ years and also for allowing him to give nicknames to all the girls on Pine wing!!

A special thanks goes out to the Bistro on Hudson, Kim and Rick Svec, Branadie, Ryder, and Jesse for always making the Bevan family part of their family, to Blanche and Jerry for the best karaoke ever, and for the love they all showed Bob every time they saw him. He was truly blessed!

Bob will be laid to rest in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery with full Marine Corps honors at 11:30am on May 9th.
