Joseph John Vince, 75, of Pittston, PA, went to be with our Lord and Savior on January 10th, 2025, after having numerous medical conditions.
He was born June 14th, flag day, in Scranton, PA, and was the son of Mary (Canella) and Joseph Vince.
He graduated from Scranton Technical High School in 1967 and then completed his plan of study at Johnson School of Technology. He was employed by the Union of Bricklayers Local, Scranton, PA for over twenty years. He then continued to work for the University of Scranton in the custodial department for another 15 years until retirement in 2011.
He is preceded in death by his mother, father, brother-in-law Eugene Miller and his beloved dog Pepper. He is survived by his wife Christina, of 44 years, and their daughter and son-in-law Maria and Anthony (Tony) Brogna, stepson Ryan Paddick (Lani), grandchildren Anthony Joseph (AJ- named after him) and Vincenzo (Vinny) Brogna, Gabrielle, Isabella and Luke Paddick. He is also survived by his sister Ann Miller, and brother James Vince (Heather).
Joe was a family man who, after retirement, spent most of his time with his family. He took leisure rides with his wife, as they enjoyed their time together going for lunch and shopping. He enjoyed being with his grandsons AJ and Vinny, who lived nearby, and called him their “Papa Joe”. He went on vacation with his grandchildren, attended their sports activities, and just enjoyed spending time with them at home. These are the memories that the family will hold onto and continue to cherish in their hearts.
The family would like to thank all persons that participated in Joe’s care throughout the past years at Geisinger Health System, Embassy of East Mountain and finally Allied Hospice care.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10am on Tuesday, January 14 in St. John the Evangelist Church, Pittston with interment at the convenience of the family. The viewing will be held prior to the Mass on Tuesday from 9-10am in the church. Arrangements are by Ruane & Mudlock Funeral Home, Inc., 59 Parrish St. Wilkes-Barre.
I never saw Joe without a smile on his face. He was a wonderful cousin. I’ll miss him.
