Pittston

Helen Bubul, an active member and volunteer in the community died Tuesday, July 16 at Geisinger Wyoming Valley.

Born March 20, 1930 in Pittston, she was the daughter of Anthony and Mary Gaulis. She was a graduate of Pittston High School class of 1948 and Penn State Master Gardener Program.

With her husband Paul, Mrs. Bubul was a world traveler, as well as an avid golfer and gardener. She had an outgoing personality and her smile would light up a room. She was devoted to her family and loved being a Grandmother, but was over the moon being a Great-Grandmother to Hudson.

Mrs. Bubul helped her husband run a very successful seafood restaurant, The Nook, for many years. She was a lifelong member of St Casimir's Church and St. John the Evangelist, Pittston. She was also a member of Pittston Hospital Women's Auxiliary, the West Pittston Women's Club and the West Pittston Historical Society. She served on the West Pittston Shade Tree Commission ensuring that West Pittston remained the Garden Village. She was one of the active members of Save Our Bridge and was successful with that endeavor for many years.
She was a member of Fox Hill Country Club and Ladies Golf Association. She also volunteered at Geisinger Hospital for over 25 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Paul Bubul, brother Anthony Gaulis, and sisters Ann Caradine, Frances Rogan and Mary Judatis.

Left behind to treasure her memories is her devoted daughter Paula and husband Neil Hedrick of Sugarloaf Key, FL, sons, James and wife Medra of Orlando, FL and Thomas and wife Anita of West Pittston, grandchildren, Sarah and husband Maine Hill, PJ Marranca, Jesse, Thomas, Patrick and John Bubul, one Great-Grandchild Hudson Hill, the light of her life.

Private funeral services were held by Ruane & Mudlock Funeral Home, Inc., and she was laid to rest with her beloved husband Paul in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
